For those of you who just want to learn more web development...

Join us for an introduction to the most common tool for designing and laying out web pages: Cascading Style Sheets, or CSS. This is the first in a series of two sessions introducing CSS (click here for the second session).

This is an introductory class, so we won't get too deep or complicated. However, we will aim answer such questions as:

  • What, um, is CSS anyway? Semantic markup? Eh?
  • How do HTML and CSS and web browser(s) relate?
  • How can CSS save time in web design?
  • What are those <SPAN>s and <DIV>s all about?

Of course, this is a hands-on workshop, so we will focus on how to:

  • Include CSS inline and via internal and external style sheets
  • Use the <SPAN> tag
  • Use simple selectors and a handful of common properties to ...
    • Affect text in various ways
    • Handle font options

Fee: $10 for nonprofit staff and volunteers
