JavaScript is a language most commonly used to add interactive features to webpages. It's what adds the cool effects to many of the sites you visit. Best of all, it's fairly simple to learn.

This class will provide a brief introduction to JavaScript, so you can make websites respond to the user. Emphasis will be on learning the basic structure of JavaScript commands and giving you the tools you need to learn more on your own.

We will cover:

  • How to include JavaScript on your site
  • Basic syntax: the parts of the commands and how to put them together
  • Common commands you may want to use
  • An example or two of JavaScript in action
    • Making information appear and disappear
    • Simple animation

We will be using the jQuery library. If you don't know what that is, that's okay. It will make your life easier, at least in terms of JavaScript.

You will need some knowledge of HTML and CSS for this class to make sense.
