Introduction to Content Management Systems
Content Management Systems were all the rage at the 2007 NTEN conference and a frequent topic of nonprofit technology articles and seminars from TechSoup and Idealware and the like. Many organizations are migrating their websites to CMS's, and, to borrow a line from a recent Idealware Webinar (one of many on CMS's), "Open source content management systems (CMS) are particularly attractive to the nonprofit community because of their cost-efficiency, but what do these systems actually do?"
In this seminar/workshop we will try to answer that question, explain how CMS's can make the management of websites easier and more efficient, and introduce two of the more popular Open Source CMS's.
The agenda outline:
- An overview of CMS's
- A demonstration of Joomla/Mambo
- A demonstration of Drupal
- Hands-on experience -- try a CMS yourself and ask questions!
Should I sign up ... who's this class for? Simply anyone who manages a website, works with someone who manages a website, or is thinking about becoming involved with a website. This is about exposure to new technology and Q&A and will be especially useful to groups pondering changes to their websites.
Because of the hands-on component, we are limited to 12 participants since we have 12 PC's in the YWCA lab. You can signup by clicking "Sign up" below (you must be logged in to see the button).
Presented by Brian Choc and Steve Kessler.

Schedule Mix-up
I made a mistake or two in the class descrpition... most importantly I accidentally put this on the calendar for July 9th ... it's supposed to be July 13th. I've corrected the date, now, but I just wanted to make sure I posted a note about the correction for anyone who didn't notice the change. Sorry about the mix-up.
