Cornucopia

Here are many places where you can receive food, often for free. Needless to say buying all your groceries at the expensive convenience stores is not recommended. Please note that these are simply resources available to you - by no means (if you do not splurge your money) will you be starving and in constant want of food during your tenure. General prudence is essential, however. Eating all your meals while out on the town - not good. Buying and eating the majority of your food from the local grocery stores - good. That being said the one resources that is highly recommended and a great help are food stamps. If you have a large appetite and worry about eating enough (like myself) AmeriCorps Members often apply and receive food stamps.

  • FreeFood! - PDF file containing address and contact info of organizationsproviding food to the needy (i.e. AmeriCorps volunteers!)
  • Share Colorado - Information on a program that offers 50% savings on their groceries, while encouraging the building of relationships with their neighbors in the community. There are no qualifications...if you eat, you qualify.
