The Four Most Popular Questions Fielded at T4T Colorado World Headquarters (answers included)
We originally intended to make this article "The Top Five Questions...", but only four questions really stood out above the rest. So that's what you get.
Question: Why don’t you offer classes in Photoshop (or Quickbooks or Raiser’s Edge or Commodore 64)?
Answer: We have access to several community computer labs in the Denver, Boulder, and Colorado Springs areas, but none that have specialty programs like Photoshop or Quickbooks installed. As soon as we find an available lab with those programs, we’ll get to work on recruiting volunteer instructors! Have a suggestion for a new class? Know of a lab with that software available? It certainly doesn’t hurt to let us know your ideas.
Question: I was looking at your online training calendar and there aren’t any classes scheduled after next month. Why?
Answer: Oh, just you wait. There will be! The majority of our courses are taught by volunteers and it’s tough to ask a volunteer to commit to a 2-hour course several months in the future. So we typically work on a one-month rolling calendar. That model also gives us the flexibility to add courses at short notice or modify anything we have on the calendar.
With that being said, we’re always looking for new volunteers. If you feel the urge to teach, please let us know. We’re open to pretty much any topic remotely related to technology.
Question: So you guys just offer different software and computer classes?
Answer: Oh no! T4T does so much more. For the past 12 years, we’ve also donated computer hardware to Front Range nonprofit organizations through our TechLaunch grant sponsored by IBM. Over the first 11 years, we donated laptop and desktop computers. Check out the past recipient list. Chances are you know someone in the nonprofit world that received some hardware from T4T. This year we switched to donating servers, network printers, and Young Explorer computers. Unfortunately, you just missed the deadline for 2009 applications (which was back in June) and we look forward to announcing those winners in the next few months.
Question: I forgot my password for my T4T online account. How do I register for a class?
Answer: Couple options for that one. There’s an online ‘request a new password’ option that seems to work pretty well. Alternatively, give us a call or email. We can register you for class over the phone (or by email) and reset your password at the same time. Just do us one favor, please don’t create a brand new account. That just confuses everyone.
Of course, if you have a different question that needs some answering, please contact us. We'll do our best.
