Volunteer Spotlight: Jessica Popp

Participants in our Boulder classes the last several months will not be surprised to hear that Jessica Popp loves to teach. She was actively searching for a volunteer opportunity last fall and, luckily for us, settled upon Teaming for Technology. As a T4T volunteer software instructor, she’s able to combine her love of teaching with her technical knowledge of programs like PowerPoint and Excel.

Her computer skills have all been acquired on the job over the last 15 years. Using tools like the Microsoft Office Suite has “evolved into a level of competency with them,” she told us recently. Of course that’s quite the understatement as she’s received rave reviews after teaching courses like Advanced Excel to diverse nonprofit audiences.

Volunteer Instructor Jessica PoppWhen not volunteering with T4T, she works as a Senior Manager in Engineering at Sun Microsystems. She is a member of a global team which keeps her traveling around the U.S. and China. We’re just happy she comes home occasionally to help out with the technology needs in the Boulder area.

If she’s not working, traveling, or volunteering, you’ll probably find her out for a run. She lists the 174-mile Colorado Outward Bound Relay and the Georgetown to Idaho Springs Half Marathon as two of her favorites.

Check out our Online Calendar to find Jessica and all our other fabulous volunteer instructors at a class near you.
