Volunteer Spotlight: Lisa Bessen
Anyone who works for a small nonprofit knows just how frustrating database development and management can be. Thankfully, T4T volunteer Lisa Bessen has brought her expertise in database design and programming to T4T and our Colorado nonprofit community.
Lisa brings over 15 years of computer experience to the T4T team. She has worked for multiple Fortune 500 companies as a programmer, database designer, and business analyst, specializing in designing software to solve business problems. Lisa proudly states that her ”passion is getting nonprofits to use technology efficiently to maximize their contributions to the world.”
Lisa enjoys teaching and is able to accommodate students with various learning styles and different experience levels. Cami Harris, a recent T4T student said, “Lisa respects each level at which the participants of the class are coming from. I felt that I could ask anything and that she would relate information back in a way that everyone in the class could follow.”
Lisa's teaching approach has been described by her students as “friendly and non-intimidating.” “It’s wonderful to have someone like Lisa who is willing to share her time and expertise as a volunteer to help those of us who may need a little extra help in understanding the software that we use daily,” added Cami. “She’s a gem.”
